Teargas fired at Kenya protesters
POLICE fired teargas to disperse supporters of Kenya's defeated presidential contender Raila Odinga gathered in front of the Supreme Court yesterday, hours before his lawyers were due to file a challenge to his election defeat. At least one person was reported wounded as police cleared the crowd from the front of the court building.
Odinga refuses to accept the slim first-round win by Kenya's richest man, Uhuru Kenyatta, and his allies have said he plans to present a petition alleging collusion between Kenyatta and the electoral commission.
