Thai investigation bureau summons 55 protest leaders
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) of Thailand has issued a summons for a total of 55 leaders of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) and other groups, requiring they report to hear and acknowledge charges stemming from the anti-government protests, it said today.
The 55 are to be charged with acts of rebellion, inciting unrest and causing a state of chaos in violation.
PDRC secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban, who led the "Bangkok shutdown" across the city starting today, is not included in the list since a warrant has already been issued for his arrest previously.
Meanwhile, the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order said today that it expected the "shutdown" rally would last for four or five days, adding three rally sites, including Victory Monument, are concerned spots of possible clash.
