Thai troops fire in air to halt red shirt convoy-witness
THAI troops fired into the air near a convoy of anti-government protesters today in an attempt to halt their convoy, a Reuters witness said.
About 450 soldiers and policemen have set up a checkpoint outside an air force base on a highway in Bangkok's northern suburbs, and some of the soldiers fired into the air with machine guns and shotguns.
Protesters in Thailand pushing for early elections had earlier driven out of their central Bangkok encampment by truck and motorbike today for a "mobile rally".
