THREE people died and at least 60 were injured in an explosion at a South Korean defence research institute, local media reported today.
The site is 45 km (28 miles) northwest of Seoul and about 30 km from the heavily defended border with North Korea.
Yonhap news agency said the explosion was at the Agency for Defence Development in Pocheon, which is used to test explosives.
The explosion occured around 10 am (0100 GMT), YTV television said. There was no immediate comment from officials.
