Japan's national government today rejected the Tokyo City government's request to conduct a survey on the Diaoyu Islands, Japanese media reported.
The national government does not allow any Japanese citizen to go to the Diaoyu Islands for safety reasons, the media said.
The national government received an application from the Tokyo government last Tuesday. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura will explain their decision at a press conference this afternoon.
