ARTURO Beltran Leyva, one of Mexico's most wanted drug traffickers, was killed in a shoot out with state security forces yesterday, the navy said.
"We confirm the death of Arturo Beltran Leyva. He was killed in a navy operation in Cuernavaca," said a navy captain in the Mexican capital who declined to be named.
Navy forces have become increasingly involved in President Felipe Calderon's fight against drug gangs.
