Trump defends relationship with women

US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump yesterday hit back at critics who said he went too far with caustic comments about a television news anchor, insisting no apology was necessary and defending his relations with women.

鈥淚鈥檝e had such an amazing relationship with women in business. They are amazing executives.

鈥淭hey are killers. They are phenomenal,鈥 Trump said on ABC鈥檚 鈥淭his Week鈥 program.

The billionaire, who leads the polls in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, appeared on Sunday news shows to rebut the latest wave of outrage triggered by his off-the-cuff talk.

This time, Trump is under fire for criticizing Fox anchor Megyn Kelly during and after a debate on Thursday night for candidates seeking the Republican presidential nomination.

Asked about Kelly on a CNN interview on Friday, Trump said: 鈥淵ou could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.鈥

Trump was barred from an important gathering of conservative activists on Saturday and drew another round of denunciations.

Republican candidates Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker, Lindsey Graham, Rick Perry and George Pataki all denounced his comments on Twitter or in statements. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush called on Trump to apologize.

鈥淭hey were completely inappropriate and offensive comments,鈥 Fiorina said on CNN鈥檚 鈥淪tate of the Union.鈥

Asked on ABC if he thought he had gone too far, Trump said, 鈥淣o, not at all.鈥

He said he has always had 鈥渁 great relationship with women鈥 and has hired 鈥渢housands鈥 of top-level female employees.

Trump said his comments about blood coming from Kelly were misconstrued as a reference to menstrual blood.
