Trump kicks out TV anchor from press conference

US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has taken on another popular TV news personality, this time a Spanish-language broadcaster who was eventually removed from a news conference.

The billionaire businessman engaged in a prolonged confrontation about his immigration policy on Tuesday with Jorge Ramos, the Miami-based anchor for Univision, during a news conference in Iowa.

On Tuesday, Ramos began to ask Trump about his immigration proposal, which includes ending automatic citizenship for infants born in the United States to parents in the country illegally.

Trump interrupted him, saying he hadn鈥檛 called on Ramos before repeatedly telling him to 鈥渟it down鈥 and then saying, 鈥淕o back to Univision.鈥

As one of Trump鈥檚 security detail approached Ramos, the anchor continued to speak, saying: 鈥淵ou cannot deport 11 million people.鈥 Ramos was referring to Trump鈥檚 proposal to deport all people in the country illegally before allowing some of them to return.

As he was taken from the room, Ramos said, 鈥淵ou cannot build a 1,900-mile wall,鈥 another proposal in Trump鈥檚 plan.

Moments later, Trump defended Ramos鈥 removal, saying: 鈥淗e just stands up and starts screaming. Maybe he鈥檚 at fault also.鈥

In an interview on ABC鈥檚 鈥淕ood Morning America鈥 yesterday, Ramos said he was not expecting to be tossed from the news conference.

鈥淣ever in my life 鈥 and I鈥檝e been a journalist for more than 30 years 鈥 have I been thrown out of a press conference,鈥 he said.

Trump told NBC鈥檚 鈥淭oday鈥 show that Ramos 鈥渟tood up and started ranting and raving like a madman. He was totally, absolutely out of line.鈥
