Twin blasts hit east Pakistan's Lahore, 15 killed
AT least 15 people were killed as two bomb blasts hit Pakistani eastern city of Lahore today, police sources said.
About 35 people were also injured in the blasts in the army area, they said.
The blasts were so powerful that windows of nearby buildings were smashed, residents told Xinhua.
They said that sounds of firing were heard after the first blast and then another blast occurred. Several passersby were hit by bullets after the first explosion.
Rescue workers and paramedics rushed to the blast site R A Bazaar, a densely populated area of the city. The area was crowded as the blasts occurred shortly before the main Friday prayers were to start.
The injured included women and children, witnesses said.
Security have been tightened in the city and roads leading to the cantonment areas have been closed. Soldiers cordoned off the blast area and diverted the traffic to other roads.
