Two killed in bus explosion in Manila

A passenger bus exploded this afternoon in the Philippine capital killing 2 people and injuring 17 others.

The Newman Goldliner Bus, with plate number TXJ-710, exploded at the bus terminal located at the financial district. The explosion happened around 1:50 pm, local time.

Vice President Jejomar Binay and Metro Manila Police Chief Director Nicanor Bartolome rushed to the scene after the blast.

"We got reports that two died and 17 others were injured and brought to different hospitals. We are conducting an investigation on the incident," Bartolome said.

The wounded commuters were taken to the Makati hospital. It's still unclear how the explosion started and who's behind the explosion.

The police have sealed off the explosion area to investigate the incident.
