UK police find babies' remains, hidden since 1980s

POLICE say they have found the remains of three newborn babies at a house in northwest England. The bodies are thought to be from the 1980s.

Merseyside Police said Thursday they had found the bodies at a house in the town of St. Helens, near Liverpool, after a tip-off.

Police arrested two women and a man after the find on Sunday. They have been released pending further inquiries.

Police say forensic tests are being conducted to determine the age and sex of the babies.

Detective Superintendent Steve Naylor says it is too early to speculate about how the children died.
