UN accepts Tehran's talks offer
THE five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany said yesterday that they had accepted an offer to resume talks with Iran on the nuclear issue.
Responding to a February letter from Iranian nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili in which he proposed new discussions, European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton called for dialogue that would deliver "real progress."
Her announcement comes as the semi-official ISNA news agency reported yesterday that Iran would grant UN inspectors access to a military complex where the UN nuclear agency suspects secret atomic work has been carried out.
