US tornado victims rise to 139

THE death toll from the powerful tornado in Joplin, Missouri has risen to at least 139. More than 150 others are still missing following the disaster. Local residents and volunteers are struggling to get the devastated city back on its feet.
Seven More people were confirmed dead over the last 24 hours.
The tornado, already the deadliest single twister in the United States since 1947, also injured more than 900 people.
Officials say that figure could be higher because some people did not go to hospital.
Authorities say they have identified some of the victims, but some of the bodies are in such a bad shape that officials have to use DNA, medical records, and even distinctive tattoos to identify them.
Some families have expressed frustration at the slow pace of identifying the victims and releasing the remains.
Many have returned to their home town of Joplin after the tornado.
Lindy Molina, Joplin Resident, said, "We have recovered my nephew, he is alive and well at Kansas city hospital but unfortunately we have been unable to locate my sister."
Six days after the tornado, officials are still trying to determine what happened to the people missing and unaccounted for.
US President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit the traumatized city today and will speak at a community memorial service.
