Zoo slaughter

VANDALS who broke into an Australian zoo slaughtered birds and dozens of animals are now missing, said a media report yesterday. Australian Broadcasting Corp said the intruders cut the locks on bird, wallaby and monkey enclosures at a zoo in the southern island state of Tasmania late Thursday or early Friday. Workers at the private Tasmania Zoo found nine birds with their heads crushed or torn off. About 60 birds and animals are missing.
