Australia's largest private trade delegation has left from Toowoomba on the first international passenger flight from the region.
More than 250 producers and representatives from dozens of south-east Queensland businesses were aboard the Qantas flight from Wellcamp Airport at Toowoomba to Shanghai just after 11:00am.
The delegation, led by the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise, is aimed at building trade relations with China - Australia's largest trading partner.
Food Leasers Australia chief executive Ben Lyons said there was a mix of delegates hoping to do business with China.
"We have got some large beef producers, some large beef processors, and then we've got some family-owned properties and services firms as well," he said.
"I think the mix is important."
Weekly freight flights from Wellcamp to Hong Kong begin next month.
The passenger flight to Shanghai is the first for the privately built airport that opened two years ago.
