Garlic bread recalled after fears of plastic contamination

Anyone with garlic bread in the fridge or freezer has been advised to check their packets after a major manufacturer issued a recall on a large range of products.

George Weston Foods has recalled 11 of their garlic bread products after two small pieces of plastic were found in a margarine blender on January 11.

The margarine was supplied by GrainCorp.

Many of the products that have been recalled are sold nationally at retailers including Woolworths, Aldi, Foodworks and IGA.

In a statement, George Weston Foods said all the products had been removed from supermarket shelves.

"Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to discontinue use and either contact George Weston Foods Consumer Information Centre ... or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund," the statement read.

The company added that GrainCorp had identified the source of the contamination and had withdrawn the ingredient.
