Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg says he and his state counterparts have agreed on an independent review to provide a blueprint for energy security in the wake of last month's power outage in South Australia.
The Federal Government called a snap meeting of state and federal energy ministers following the statewide blackout, which has prompted calls from the Coalition for a nationally consistent approach to renewable energy targets.
Mr Frydenberg is meeting with state and territory energy ministers in Melbourne today, where he told reporters the statewide power failure was a wake up call.
"It reminded us of the urgent need for energy ministers to respond in a collective way to the issue of energy security," he said.
More to come.
