The Northern Territory may have the lowest unemployment rate in Australia, but it seems employers are struggling to find people to fill some jobs.
A shortage of skilled workers in the top end has been highlighted by the NT Government as an impediment to growth.
The Territory's Minister for Business and Employment, Peter Styles, said employers are increasingly looking elsewhere to find staff.
"If we can't get people locally to fill these positions and if we can't do that with our interstate visits then we need to go overseas," he said.
Mr Styles said the Government is trying to help local businesses recruit skilled staff.
"And there are occasions where we've had to send people to expos in relation to opportunities and jobs so they can attract people to come to the NT."
The Federal Government last year released its White Paper on Developing Northern Australia.
One of the key initiatives of the policy is building a sustainable workforce.
