Petrol price spike in Adelaide 'unjustified'

Adelaide motorists are facing a record price rise with hikes of as much as 35 cents in the past 24 hours at some retailers, the Royal Automobile Association of South Australia has said.
The motoring lobby group has called on drivers to boycott petrol stations selling fuel at more than $1.20 per litre.
Senior analyst Chris West said some businesses were still selling fuel around the $1-per-litre mark.
"The price hike we're seeing right now is not a price hike Adelaide has seen before," he said.
"If some of these retailers do get their way of a 35-cent-per-litre increase, it will be the largest spike we have on our records."
He said the price hike was unfair.
"The elevated and outrageous price we're seeing cannot be justified on the fundamentals," Mr West said.
"[The] wholesale price has increased about four cents but nothing to substantiate prices above $1.19," he said.
"We have spotted some Woolworths and Caltex sites that have moved 35 cents and there are some On The Run sites that have moved more 25 cents."
