Peak-hour commuters in Adelaide's south have been stuck in a train for up to an hour after a power outage shut down the Seaford rail line.
The passenger railway between Adelaide and the southern suburbs has faced ongoing disruptions since its extension and electrification in 2013.
Daniel from Hallett Cove told 891 ABC Adelaide he and other passengers were not sure how they would continue their commute.
"Between Brighton and Hove, the train suddenly stopped, all power went off and the driver said that we had a power outage," he said.
"So we've been sitting there for the past hour, not really knowing what's going on and about five minutes (about 9:20am) ago they opened the doors and we got off the train."
Trains are not running in either direction and authorities are unsure how long it will take to fix the problem.
One train was stuck between stations at Clarence Park and a diesel train has since been sent to move it.
SA Power Networks said the power disruption was due to internal issues within the rail system's private supply network, not external electricity supply.
Caroline Kelly from the Transport Department said substitute transport was being organised for the stranded passengers.
"In terms of the substitute buses, we are trying to arrange as many as possible, but as you can imagine it's quite difficult during the peak and most of our buses are already on the road," Ms Kelly said.
"So we are trying to get that happening as quickly as we can and where there is a bus service close to the Seaford line we are getting our buses to divert and pick up passengers."
The University of Adelaide earlier tweeted that anyone caught up in the power outage and travelling to this morning's graduation ceremonies should contact the university as soon as possible.
The train network has also experienced other problems this morning.
Electronic barrier gates at Adelaide Railway Station were not working, while electronic passenger information was not displaying at Gawler railway station.
It is not known if the problems are linked to the outage on the Seaford line.
