An operation is underway to retrieve a propeller that came off a Regional Express Airlines (REX) plane mid-flight last week, narrowly missing homes, from bushland south-west of Sydney.
A police helicopter has winched the propeller out of the bushland and onto a nearby sports field.
Australian Transport and Safety Bureau investigators will examine it in an effort to find out why it came off the plane.
The SAAB 340B plane was forced to make an emergency landing after the propeller fell off mid-air on Friday.
Officers in a police helicopter discovered the 100 kilogram propeller sitting in bushland near The River Road at Revesby yesterday.
The propeller fell in bushland close to Sandakan Road, just metres from many homes.
More to come.
