Typhoon alert upgraded to highest level

SHANGHAI upgraded the typhoon alert to red at 11:30am, the highest level of the four-color warning system after Typhoon Haikui landed in east China's Zhejiang early this morning.
Local authorities have limited the speed of two metro lines and carried out other traffic restrictions across the city.
Trains of Line 2 will run at a limited speed of 30 kilometers per hour between Lingkong Road Station and Pudong International Airport Station, the eastern terminal of Line 2. Trains of Line 6 are required to run under 40 km/h between Gangcheng Road Station and Boxing Road Station.
Line 5 is also under a limit speed of 30 km/h from Yindu Road Station to Chunshen Road Station under the impact of branches along the line.
Authorities said all the ferry services were suspended from 8am and flights canceled before 12am.
The Yangtze River Bridge has been closed.
Drivers are also advised to keep their car within limited speed on the Fengpu Bridge section of S4 Highway, the Minpu Bridge section of S32 Highway and southeastern sections along the suburban G1501 Highway.
A woman in Baoshan District died this morning after she was hit by a piece of glass fallen from a high building. Local residents are suggested to stay at home and remove their flowerpots and bonsais from balconies to inside.
Fifteen travel routes scheduled to set off today were all cancelled, the Shanghai Tourist Bus Center said this morning. Tourists can have their ticket refunded within a week, the center said.
