Putuo community launches ‘Le-ING Changshou’

CHANGSHOU Road Subdistrict in Shanghai’s northwest Putuo District recently launched its Party-building brand “Le ING Changshou,” which will become a vigorous driving force for local community development.

The letters “I,” “N,” “G” refer to Inlife, network and growth, revealing expectations for high-quality life and high-standard development.

Party units in Changshou Road community lead the orderly and effective participation of local residents in community affairs.

A series of Party-building activities which have been deeply integrated into the daily life of residents and enterprises in the community have been held.

The launch of the brand is part of the local government’s efforts to construct the “Smart Community,” which is an effective way to promote refined urban management.

Last year, the Melody Paradise residential area in Changshou Road community became the first of its kind to construct a “Smart Community,” supported by its 1.06-million yuan (US$157,546) maintenance fund.

The Party branch of the Melody Paradise area organized several discussions and consultative meetings to reach consensus with industry committees and property owners.

As a result, the Owners’ Committee passed the proposal with a high approval rate of 89.2 percent to support “Smart Community” construction with its maintenance funds.

During the 10-month construction, Party units of Changshou Road Subdistrict had full play to its leading role.

Yanhua Smartech, China Mobile and other regional Party units used their professional advantages in research and development capability and design to accomplish the Smart Community construction project bearing in mind the needs of community residents.

“We have many big projects (planned for) this year, such as the transformation of old residential buildings, garbage sorting and so on. With the support of local Party units, we have confidence in doing them well,” said Zhao Yongzun, an official with Changshou Road Subdistrict.

Improving the business environment has always been a major task of local economy development. Last year, the community launched a “Building Chief” system which appointed Party members to directly serve the needs of enterprises in local commercial buildings and industrial parks.

For example, a start-up company, a tenant of the Yinzuo Commercial Building, has developed quickly over the past two years; it started off with four employees but that number rose to 47 now. The office space now seems too small for this ever-growing company. On learning about the situation, the Building Chief immediately got in contact with the property owners and the investment promotion department. Finally, the company moved into a larger office space in the same building.

The “Le ING Changshou” brand has also launched a campaign that motivates local enterprises to benefit residents of the community.

The enterprises which receive services from local Party units are willing to pay them back to the community. Starlight Cinema is one of the first batch of 22 enterprises to join the campaign.

Starlight Cinema has set up large high-definition electronic screens on the streets to display promotional videos of civilization construction, garbage sorting and other public welfare activities.

In addition, Party members, who participate in various volunteering activities, can earn certain points and later exchange them for discounts or benefits offered by community businesses.

Last year, a Party-building service station was established in the community to explore popular activities among young white-collar workers. The station offers a wide range of services, including afternoon tea, fitness courses etc.
