AE launches China’s first Black Card

American Express yesterday launched its China’s first titanium Centurion Card, known informally as the Black Card, with China Minsheng Bank to serve the high end users.

The card is issued on invitation-only basis for business elites and card holders will be directly served by Amex Travel and Lifestyle Services staff.

“After 10 years’ quick development of the Chinese economy a number of successful elites with good credit record have emerged from various industries,” said Yat Chung Koh, president of American Express Asia. “The launch marks a progress in the cooperation between Amex and China Minsheng Bank.”

Yang Ke, president of Minsheng Bank credit card center, said the combination of Minsheng’s local resources and Amex’s global expertise could better serve card holders in every aspects.

The new issuance followed Amex and Minsheng’s launch of platinum card earlier in April.
