ADVERTISING expenditure in the first quarter in China rose 2.1 percent from a year ago due to an increase in advertising spending from smartphone applications and transport services, CTR China said in a report yesterday.
Spending on trailer advertisements shown in movie theaters surged 92 percent from a year ago, with the Chinese New Year a traditional peak season for box office. Major advertisers included entertainment and leisure enterprises, transport services, cosmetics and personal care companies.
