Baidu鈥檚 rising online ads benefit partners
China's largest search engine operator Baidu said today online advertising revenue allocated to its partners this year is expected to add more than 30 percent from a year ago to 16 billion yuan (US$2.46 billion) with at least 60 percent of that coming from mobile businesses.
“We will continue to leverage our latest technologies and build an ecosystem that fits the development of mobile Internet in the next stage,” Deng Mingsheng, general manager of the business development at Baidu Union, said at the Baidu Union Summit today.
Baidu partners with website owners and smartphone application developers to display the online advertising of its customers on these websites, and share the advertising fees generated by these advertisements with the members within the Baidu Union.
Chairman and chief executive officer Robin Li said that artificial intelligence will be a major driver for Internet industry in the next era. Currently, Baidu’s search service handles more than 100 million voice search on a daily basis.
“Baidu hopes to leverage our latest research development in the artificial intelligence field and voice recognition capabilities to help Baidu Union members to drive growth and build an ecosystem that benefit all parties,” Deng said.
This year, it will also provide 150 million yuan of loans for union members to better support their business operations.
“Baidu will increase support for online and offline merchant by waiving their transaction fees so that they can be more easily promote their products and services to consumers,” Xiang Hailong, Baidu senior vice president and Search Services Group general manager, told a keynote speech at today’s forum.
