Barrier to growth
Facilities management is set to grow in China but one problem the sector faces is the lack of education and training, experts said during the World Workplace Asia forum yesterday. The relatively new concept in China aims to cut cost and increase efficiency for corporations by outsourcing non-core functions like engineering, security and even running a canteen to facilities management firms. But the lack of qualified and experienced staff has been a major barrier for setting up strategic facilities management operations in China, Jones Lang LaSalle said in a research paper.
