Boehringer Ingelheim supports Chinese university in talent training

Germany-based pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim has teamed up with Eastern China University of Science and Technology to train internationally-competitive bio-pharmaceutical engineers.

“We aim to nurture high-end bio-engineering talent that excels in technical skills and entrepreneurship,” Kevin Kang, vice president of human resources for Boehringer Ingelheim China, said in a statement. “We hope the program will help upgrade the bio pharmaceutical industries in China.”

Under the agreement, Eastern China University of Science and Technology will send two junior-year bio-engineering students to study in Biberach University of Applied Sciences each year for six months and work as intern for Boehringer Ingelheim in another six months.

The pharmaceutical company said it will expand recruitment to support an under-construction research and manufacturing center in Zhangjiang High Technology Park.

The facility is expected to be operational by early 2016.
