China announces a 3% rise in fuel price amid rising tensions in Syria

China announce a 3 percent increase, or up about 0.17 yuan per liter, in fuel prices today after crude oil prices rose on the international markets amid rising tensions in Syria.

The National Development and Reform Commission, which reviews fuel rates every two weeks, have refrained from adjusting prices twice consecutively before today’s expected adjustment because changes in crude prices were not enough.

Also today, the top economic planner announced a bigger-than-expected subsidiary to solar-generated electricity in a move to encourage greener energy.
