Climb of Private companies
PRIVATE companies are climbing up performance ladder in a ranking with their vibrant economic activities, a latest report showed today.
State-owned enterprises still retained the majority of the top 500 corporations listing on Chinese mainland, with 307, but they have been on a declining trend since 2009, according to the report issued by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics today. In comparison, the number of private companies is on a steady increase.
A total of 193 private companies forayed into this year's list, nine more than last year.
State-owned enterprises' advantages of large scales and favorable government policies are gradually disappearing, while the private companies which focus on research and development are reporting higher profits, researchers said.
