Disaster reduction exhibition opens in Shanghai

The 6th Shanghai International Disaster Reduction and Security Exhibition, which kicked off at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center yesterday, will be open to the general public with free admission tomorrow, according to the organizers.

The exhibition, which started in 2008 following the big earthquake in Sichuan Province, is organized by the Shanghai Commission of Commerce in partnership with the government of Dujiangyan in Sichuan. It aims to promote disaster prevention awareness among people and showcase the most up-to-date technologies in disaster relief.

This year, the exhibition is broadened to cover campus security and the construction of smart cities. It has attracted more than 300 exhibitors to participate, and will stage a set of seminars and demonstrations of disaster prevention and reduction tomorrow.
