Eatery visited by Xi asked to maintain quality, prices
A SENIOR municipal government official in Beijing has asked Qing-Feng Steam Dumpling Shop, which gar-nered nationwide fame after President Xi Jinping dropped in unexpectedly for lunch a few weeks ago, to main-tain the quality of its products while keeping their prices unchanged, Beijing Youth Daily has reported.
“All time-honored brands have managed to maintain the high quality of their products in a consistent way over decades,” Cheng Hong, vice major of Beijing, told Zhu Yulin, general manager of the State-owned Beijing Huatian Catering Group, owner of the Qing-Feng chain shop. “Now a renowned catering brand among the pub-lic, Qing-Feng should make every effort to ensure the quality of its products while keeping its price at reason-able levels as well.”
Sales at the dumping shop’s 180 stores in Beijing and three in Yanjiao in Hebei province have gone up by 35 to 40 percent, Zhu said. He also promised that Qing-Feng will not expand its franchise shops too quickly in order to maintain quality.
