European Union Chamber of Commerce in China releases date for its 2018 Sustainable Business Awards ceremony

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (European Chamber) announced that registration is now open for the 2018 Sustainable Business Awards Ceremony and Conference to be held on Wednesday September 19, 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai.

The European Chamber’s Sustainable Business Awards aim to acknowledge leadership in innovation achievements, raise awareness of sustainability issues, and provide a platform for companies to share their experiences with implementing responsible business model with organizations looking to embrace responsible business competition in China.

The European Chamber believes that there is a need for companies to build sustainable business models that integrate social and environmental responsibilities into commercial activities and that make competitive responsibility a strong driver for future development. This initiative tallies with the European Union’s 2020 targets and China’s own long-term sustainable development goals.

The awards ceremony and conference will welcome more than 150 distinguished participants, including sustainability leaders, academics and representatives from European consulates.

Speakers and panelists will include consumer goods leader Unilever, leader in polymer solutions Covestro, leading chemical and life sciences company Merck, leading manufacturer of construction equipment Volvo Construction. Representatives from all these companies will join the first panel discussion entitled: “Less for More: New Models for Inclusive Sustainable Business Growth.”

Furthermore, the European Chamber will welcome Dr Lydia Price, Professor of Marketing at China Europe International Business School, Ms Eline van Nistelrooij, Vice Consul, Focal Point for Responsible Business Conducts, Consulate General of the Netherlands in Shanghai, Dr Jianzhong Lu, Founder of CSR Thought Lab, Dr Guo Peiyuan, GM and Founder, Syntao, Dr Xuanwei Cao, International Business School Suzhou at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, UN PRME Action Team Leader and Mr Mats Harborn, President of the European Union Chamber, who will participate in the second panel discussion, talking about “Opportunities for Sustainability-Driven Business.”

There are currently still two sponsorship slots available for companies interested in joining the first panel.

The Earth sponsor for the conference is Unilever, a leading global consumer goods company. Jupiter sponsors include leader in polymer solutions Covestro, leading chemical and life sciences company Merck and leading manufacturer of construction equipment Volvo Construction. Additional partners include Knowledge partner Syntao, beverages partner Pernod Ricard and media partner Shanghai Daily.
