GAC, Fiat and Chrysler set up JV in Shanghai

FIAT Chrysler Automobiles NV and Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co (GAC) launched a joint commercial operation in Shanghai today to push the sales of domestic-made sport-utility vehicles (SUV) in China.
GAC Fiat Chrysler Sales Ltd, the Shanghai-based joint venture, will be responsible for all product planning, after-sales, marketing and sales of company's Jeep, Fiat and Chrysler brand, the company said.
As passenger vehicle sales growth rate is expected to slow down to single-digit in 2015 from last year's 12.6 percent amid economic downturn, the market of diversified SUV models becomes the battle field for automakers to attract customers in the world's largest vehicle market.
