Goods traffic rises
GOODS turnover at major ports in China rose 11.2 percent from a year earlier to 1.61 billion tons in the first two months, He Jianzhong, a spokesman for the Ministry of Transport, said yesterday. The growth rate was 4.1 percentage points higher than that of the same period last year. China's fixed-asset investment in highways and waterways fell 5.1 percent to 90.88 billion yuan (US$14.6 billion) in January and February, He said. That narrowed from the 11.1 percent decline recorded in the same period in 2012.
