Huawei eyes enterprise sector
Huawei Technologies released two artificial intelligence-featured sever chips yesterday to integrate with data centers and cloud services, underlining the company’s strategy to take its smartphone success into the enterprise market.
Huawei’s Ascend series chips are seen as rivals to Nvidia and Google’s TPU (Tensor Processing Unit), the world’s most powerful chips. But Eric Xu, Huawei’s rotating chairman, said in Shanghai that China’s largest telecommunications gear and mobile phone maker would not sell independent AI chips but bundle them with enterprise services like the cloud.
Huawei has implemented a “full stack” AI strategy covering various hardware and services, including new chips, said Xu. Huawei will invest in a range of AI areas, including calculation capacity, security, algorithms, automation, technology synchronization, platforms and talent, to establish a “more connected world.”
