JP Morgan names Urwin Asia Pacific CEO

JP Morgan Chase said yesterday Jeff Urwin, head of its global investment banking coverage, capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions divisions, will be based in Hong Kong with an added role as its chief executive for Asia Pacific.

This is the first time for JP Morgan Chase to base its global head of investment banking in Asia Pacific. Urwin will continue to report to Jes Staley, CEO of the American investment bank, after relocating to Hong Kong from New York in May.

Over the past six years, JP Morgan's Asia Pacific business has doubled in size and tripled its net earnings, the bank said.

JP Morgan Chase has executed strategic initiatives in China, including establishing a securities joint venture with First Capital Securities Co, setting up a locally incorporated bank, and opening a series of new branch offices in the country.
