Lanxess expects production to jump on improved economy

Germany specialty chemicals company Lanxess expects to nearly double its production of milled iron oxide pigments in China on improving economic outlook in China and the US.

Lanxess’s output of the products in China is expected to rise from 40,000 tons to 70,000 tons when a Ningbo factory is put into production.

Construction of the factory started this year and its products will be distributed globally.

“The global economy will surely continue to recover as we’ve seen China and US growing again. Europe is also stabilizing,” said Joerg Hellwig, general manager of inorganic pigments at Lanxess. “We expect our business in China to rise faster and gain larger market share.”

Hellwig said the company will focus on organic growth and is positive about construction recovery in China.

The Ningbo plant will be Lanxess’s first in the world to use new manufacturing process to reuse and eliminate emissions.
