Mark Zuckerberg jogs through Tian'anmen Square in heavy smog
FACEBOOK’S founder, chairman and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg was found running through the Tian'anmen Square in Beijing today, even though it was a heavily polluted day in the capital city.
The pictures post in Chinese social websites raised wide-range attention and debate among netizens, even Facebook service is not available in the Chinese mainland.
“It’s great to be back in Beijing! I kicked off my visit with a run through Tian’anmen Square, past the Forbidden City and over to the Temple of Heaven,” Zuckerberg said on Facebook, forwarded widely in Weibo and WeChat in China.
The Facebook founder was invited to attend the China Development Forum 2016 held from Saturday to Monday. Over 80 Fortune 500 CEOs, government officials and researchers will gather in the forum to talk about the country's economy development and industry structure upgrade in the next five years since 2016.
With a Chinese American wife and speech by Mandarin in Tsinghua University, Zuckerberg is famous in China.
He seems to be willing to take efforts to make Facebook available in the mainland as his vision to connect all people in the world. He met president Xi Jinping in 2015 during Xi‘s US visit.
Netizens seems to care more on the air quality in Beijing. They advised Zuckerberg not to jog in such “serious-polluted” weather in the comments.
