McDonald’s will hire more young people

McDonald's said it would launch a nationwide hiring week starting May 20, as the fast food chain seeks to employ more than 70,000 full-time and part-time staff in China this year.

In a total of 12 domestic cities, it will also allow college students that are under work-study programs to take over the majority of the management work in altogether 12 canteens under a week-long trial program later this month.

David Zhang, vice president of human resources, told Shanghai Daily that the program is designed to allow students to have full-access of career training before their graduation and this also fits with the company's culture.

The company also offers students under work-study programs with a series of training courses that corresponds with their career promotion.

Nearly 30 percent of McDonald's staff are now born in the 90s and the company has been working on a more flexible rotation scheme as well as working environment to encourage young talents to learn and growth, according to Phyllis Cheung, chief executive officer of McDonald’s China.
