One-way mobile charging coming soon

CHINA Telecom, the leading Chinese telecommunications carrier, will offer one-way charging packages from October 1.

Currently mobile users are charged to receive calls as well as make them.

E-surfing users who subscribe to My e-home, BizNavigator and E-surfing packages, can answer phones free of charge anywhere on the Chinese mainland from next month, according to Sina.com.

The company will offer more than 70 types of 3G e-surfing mobile phones priced around 1,000 yuan (US$147) in future to support the service.

China's industry minister Li Yizhong told a press conference earlier this year that one-way charging will cover the whole telecommunication industry eventually.
