Saint-Gobain eyes growth in China

Saint-Gobain, a French construction material company, said today that its plans to further expand and increase market share in China, with a new plant being invested in Wuhan.

The company currently has a research center in Shanghai, which employs 240 researchers, having filing 150 patents and over 1,000 invention disclosures since its establishment in 2005.

“With the country experiencing rapid urbanization and an expanding middle class, we have tremendous opportunity for growth,” said Javier Gimeno, chairman of Saint-Gobain Asia-Pacific.

The company today started its world tour of a year-long 350th anniversary in Shanghai, with the unveiling of five futuristic glass pavilions that are temporarily installed along the North Bund.
