Silvergate partners with Shamrock Capital Advisors

Silvergate Media, an international TV production and licensing company focused on pre-school children’s entertainment based in London and New York, is to partner with Shamrock Capital Advisors, according to a corporate statement.
With the acquisition of a 51% stake in Silvergate, Shamrock will support the growth of Silvergate, particularly in China. Shamrock is a Los Angeles-based private equity firm with a rich history of investing in the media, entertainment and communications sectors. The firm traces its heritage back to the family investment company for the late Roy E. Disney family.
Silvergate will also expand its intellectual property, library rights and digital capabilities.
William Astor will continue as Chairman, while Waheed Alli as CEO and will continue to drive the further expansion of the business in China and globally.
Silvergate is working with China Central Television (known as CCTV) to co-produce Series 5 of Octonauts, which is CCTV’s first co-production with a Western media company to develop a pre-school animation series.
