Sinopec forms JV with Huntsman

HUNTSMAN Corp and Sinopec have formed a joint venture to build and operate a US$750 million propylene oxide and methyl tertiary butyl ether facility in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province.

Huntsman will own 49 percent of the project, the Woodlands, Texas-based company said in a statement yesterday. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2014 and will use Huntsman technology for creating the compounds. Propylene oxide is used to make home insulation, building materials and foams for cars and furniture. MTBE is a fuel additive.
