State Grid Party secretary detained, reports say

A senior official of the State Grid Corp of China has been detained for investigation, according to media reports.

Zhu Changlin, director and Party secretary of State Grid's north China division, was under investigation, Caixin and other Chinese media reported. Zhu previously worked as State Grid's chief in Sichuan Province and Beijing.

State Grid has yet to confirm the reports.

The country's ongoing anti-corruption campaign has brought down a number of government officials in provinces including Sichuan, as well as senior executives at state-owned enterprises in industries such as petroleum.

The news also came after media reports said the National Audit Office last month sent hundreds of inspectors to the State Grid in an audit investigation targeting its chairman, Liu Zhenya.

State Grid is a monopoly power distributor in all but five southern provinces on China's mainland. Liu has pushed for a national ultra-high voltage grid that allows power transmission from China's interior to coastal regions.
