Strike continues
A STRIKE over salary levels has entered its second month at a company affiliated with Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing.
The strike, involving 264 workers at White Cat Chongqing, a chemicals producer, continued as the company refused to engage in talks with workers, China Business News reported yesterday.
White Cat Chongqing is part of Shanghai Hutchison Whitecat, an affiliate of Li's flagship company Hutchison Whampoa.
The issue intensified this week as some workers tried to go back to work while others demanded the employer hold talks on salaries.
The strike broke out on July 7 after workers' demands for a salary rise received no response.
