Students get opportunity to meet CEOs
MORE than 500 people, mostly young college students, got the opportunity to rub shoulders with top honchos of the world’s best companies face to face as part of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai event.
“It is a novel thing in the council’s history to come to universities, which are key sources of innovation,” said Mayor Yang Xiong in his speech. “We hope this endeavor can increase public participation in the council’s events and thus create more social impact.”
On Saturday afternoon, the students gathered at Shanghai Jiao Tong University to meet some of the council members and hear their views on nurturing innovative culture and training of creative professionals.
Mark Weinberger, global chairman and CEO of consulting firm EY, said more exposure to young inventors and entrepreneurs is effective to encouraging innovation.
He said that it is not wise to keep innovators in a box.
