Website shut down
CHENGDU Health Risk Management yesterday shut down its website after personal data of as many as 800,000 insurance buyers have been discovered to be accessed online.
The leak of personal information was attributed to glitches in a recent technology upgrade, Chengdu Health Risk Management said in a statement. In the past few days, web users complained that they have found while doing a random inquiry that all the detailed information including the name and ID card number as well as the mobile phone number of the insurers were shown. The website was designed to be an online inquiry site for China Life Insurance Co's accident insurance policy holders.
