Cadillac enters new sectors

CADILLAC will release nine new models in China in the next five years as the US automaker drives to achieve half a million global sales annually by the end of this decade by expanding and diversifying model portfolio, the luxury brand of General Motors said yesterday.

Cadillac will drive into the small sedan and sport-utility vehicle segments where it is currently absent, Johan de Nysschen, president of Cadillac, said.

Cadillac now offers mainly compact and mid-size sedans as well as mid-size and large SUVs.

More than one third of its sales are driven by China, its second largest market worldwide after the US.

In the past 11 months, Cadillac’s sales jumped 50.7 percent to 64,359 units.
