Chery Jaguar Land Rover to lead the premium auto market

CHERY Jaguar Land Rover, the first premium automotive Sino-British joint venture, is being built based on the industry’s highest standards.
The Changshu manufacturing facility’s press and body shops have begun trial runs this month. The entire plant will be completed on schedule and ready for production in this year’s fourth quarter.
The manufacturing facility cost 10.9 billion yuan (US$1.75 billion) with annual capacity estimated at 130,000 units.
Chery Jaguar Land Rover will bring Chinese customers world-class Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, as well as the joint venture’s own branded vehicles.
Chris Bryant, President of Chery Jaguar Land Rover, said: “We want to be the premium automotive manufacturer in China’s premium car market, and to inspire excellence and exceed our customers’ expectations.”
As one of the world’s leading premium auto brands, Jaguar Land Rover’s sales in China have grown strongly in recent years. In 2013, sales of Jaguar Land Rover reached 95,237 units, up 30 percent from the previous year. To meet increasing demand from Chinese customers, Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Co Ltd was established. In November 2012, the foundation stone for this manufacturing facility was laid in Changshu, Jiangsu Province. A year later the main building was completed and the equipment installation phase commenced.
Guohua Zhu, Deputy President of Chery Jaguar Land Rover, said: “2014 is a very important year for Chery Jaguar Land Rover. We will move from the construction phase to the overall production phase.”
Chery Jaguar Land Rover’s pure British lineage comes from Jaguar Land Rover. Jaguar traces its history back 76 years while Land Rover has been a leading innovator and manufacturer of luxury SUVs over 65 years.
The joint venture inherits this rich industry experience, leading technology and British styling to provide Chinese customers with the most desirable premium brand experience.

With advanced design and planning concepts, and the support from Jaguar Land Rover, the joint venture also exercises strict controls over the manufacturing process and logistics.
The Changshu plant will utilize the highly sophisticated CMM and Andon systems to ensure quality inspections that guarantee outstanding vehicles.
